Dust report reveals truth about harmful allergens inside Hong Kong homes.

Dyson commissioned the Croucher Institute for Environmental Sciences at the Hong Kong Baptist University to collect dust from a sample of Hong Kong homes, using Dyson V6 cordless vacuums. The test team collected three sets of dust samples from floors, mattresses and furniture in 33 Hong Kong homes.

Every gram of dust taken from Hong Kong households contains bacteria, mould and dust mites.

When analyzed, even a gram of dust from Hong Kong households in the survey were found to contain high concentrations of bacteria, mould and dust mites, all of which can exacerbate allergic reactions.

Each gram of dust contains up to 46.7 dust mites

The study reported that a median of 4.2 dust mites were found in each gram of dust samples. One sample contained 46.7 dust mites, while one bed can contain a total of 100,000 to 1,000,000 dust mites.

Some homes contain above-average mould concentration

Study showed that in some samples from Hong Kong homes, the mould concentration exceeds 1,000,000cfu/g, the threshold that triggers allergic reactions. One sample exceeds that by 2.5 times. This can cause rhinitis, lung infections and asthma.

Conventional cleaning leaves allergens behind.

Conventional cleaning using mops and brooms can cause more problems than they solve. Sweeping and dusting can stir dust and particles back into the air, and mopping simply pushes wet dust and allergens around and between floor crevices.

The total solution:

Dyson cordless vacuums remove fine dust, allergens and pollutants from all over the home.
Removes 99.95% of harmful ultrafine particles as small as 0.1 microns1. Circulates with Air Multiplier™ technology.
